The Issue
One of the best features of the Arivoli app is its ability to understand your voice commands even when you don't have an internet connection. However, many users—especially those using Samsung smartphones—find that tapping the mic while offline instantly stops and displays an error like: "Please download offline voice pack in Android Settings".
Why Does This Happen?
This happens because the voice recognition engine is built into your Android operating system, not the app itself. By default, some phones use their manufacturer's engine (like Samsung Voice Input) which doesn't support offline dictation well. Alternatively, your phone might just be missing the downloaded language files.
How to Fix It (Step-by-Step)
To make Arivoli work seamlessly offline, you need to configure your Android phone to use Google's offline engine.
Step 1: Set Google as your default Voice Input
- Open your phone's Settings.
- Go to General Management > Passwords and autofill (or sometimes just Language and input).
- Find Voice input or Text-to-speech output.
- Make sure the Preferred engine is set to Speech Services by Google (or Google Voice Typing), NOT Samsung Voice Input.
Step 2: Download the Offline Language Packs
- Open the Google App on your phone (the app with the multi-colored 'G' logo).
- Tap your Profile Picture at the top right corner and select Settings.
- Tap on Voice.
- Tap on Offline speech recognition.
- Swipe over to the All tab.
- Scroll down, find Tamil (India) and English (India), and tap to download them. (Make sure you are connected to WiFi for this step!)
Once those downloads finish, you can turn off your internet and test the Arivoli app. It will now instantly recognize your voice without any network errors!
